Racquet Network runs a fall/winter squash league at the Acadia Recreation Complex.
Acadia Squash League
This is an excellent squash league for beginners and self-taught squash players who want to meet some new partners and face some new challenges.
Each squash league session combines two hours of round robin play with opportunties to take some breaks, watch other players and learn the rules regarding lets and strokes.
For many players, this will be their very first experience playing matches in which all of the rules are correctly applied. As a result, they should expect to become more familiar with the rules of the game than they have ever been before.
Each squash league participant will recieve a copy of Squash Canada’s GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING THE RULES OF SQUASH ($13.00 value).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Do I have to come every week?
This squash league was designed on the assumption that some players will be missing every week. So missing now and then won’t have much of an impact.
2. If I miss a week, will it mess me up?
This is not a sequential squash lessons program. So what you learn one week does not depend on what you learned the previous week.
3. What will I learn?
The bulk of the time will be spent covering common situations in recreational squash that lead to lets and strokes. Players will first learn when to play a let and when to award a stroke. As the weeks advance and as the players play with each other, they will become more familiar with the rules. By the end of the session, most players will fully understand the rules and will be able to make their own calls with confidence during recreational games.
4. What level do I need to be?
This course is designed for beginner and low-intermediate players who can sustain a rally long enough for let and stroke situations to occur. Since the emphasis is on learning rather than competition, the program can accommodate a wider range of skill levels than a typical lessons program. Anybody who can rally well enough to keep the ball in play for an average of 10 to 15 seconds will be comfortable in this program.
5. How will I benefit?
Once you fully understand the rules of squash, you will be safer, you will be smarter and you will win more points against equal players with less knowledge. Most importantly, though, you will give up fewer points to players who use their lack of knowledge to “cheat” or to gain illegal advantage.
